Home for Dinner (Ronald McDonald House)

The POW City Kinsmen participate in the Home for Dinner program at Ronald McDonald House, preparing full home-cooked meals for families with children receiving medical care.

Serving Comfort with a Side of Kindness

When families need to travel to Saskatoon for their child’s medical care, Ronald McDonald House Charities offers a warm, welcoming place to stay—a true home away from home. To help make those difficult days a little bit easier, the POW City Kinsmen proudly participate in the Home for Dinner program, preparing hearty, homemade meals for the families staying at the house.

More Than a Meal

Once or twice a year, a group of 15 POW City Kinsmen members heads into the Ronald McDonald House kitchen to cook a full dinner from scratch. And we don’t just show up—we show up big.

From stuffed pork loin with all the fixings to a full spread of steak, shrimp, baked potatoes, Caesar salad, and more, our team goes all out to provide families with a meal that tastes—and feels—like home. While some volunteer groups might serve burgers or hot dogs, we make it our mission to create something extra special.

We know that for families under stress, a delicious meal and a warm, welcoming dining room can go a long way.

Community with Compassion

The staff at Ronald McDonald House often tell us how much families look forward to the nights when the Kinsmen are cooking. For us, that’s the greatest reward. It’s not just about the food—it’s about creating a moment of comfort and connection for people going through an incredibly difficult time.

As with everything we do, our goal is simple: serve the community’s greatest need—and sometimes that need is a hot plate, a quiet moment, and a feeling of normalcy.
