POW City Kinsmen

The POW City Kinsmen are planning a trip to Camp Tamarack for this weekend to continue working on the new wash house for the campers. This project started last fall with trenching and laying pipe in the trenches for drains and such. Following those steps, the cement pad was poured in the fall as well. This spring, there have been two dedicated work trips to the camp, the first trip saw us build and erect the walls and trusses. The second trip saw roofing done as well as preparatory work for insulation. The electrical panel was mounted and electricity brought into the building.

After a service outage due to a domain registration conflict that has been resolved, our website is back and operating properly. If you tried visiting www.powcitykinsmen.com over the past couple of days, you may have seen a debt consolidation or financial services site that has absolutely nothing to do with us.

We have always been here, and are happy that this situation has been resolved. We apologize for the frustration that may have resulted from this situation.

The POW City Kinsmen are in full Top of the Hops mode. Our members have tickets for sale, we have sponsorships available and our online ticket vendors are both up and running. Online tickets are selling at both Picatic and Ticketmaster.

Thank you to the generosity of the people of Saskatoon, the POW City Kinsmen will be making a donation at Telemiracle 36 on Sunday March 4th. We attended a Saskatoon Blades Game on Saturday February 25th and 'Passed the Bucket' and on the evening of March 2nd we did a 'pub crawl'. Watch for us on the show early Sunday morning!

Planning on the 2012 version of Top of the Hops is well underway. This years event will take place on May 24, 25 and 26th. More details on Top of the Hops will be released shortly. Visit this site or our topofthehops.ca site for more information and ticket buying details.

This update, coming as it does after Christmas, is late. We closed the lot on December 18th after selling all but 13 of our trees. Out profits from this project will be spent in the community to support initiatives that fit the goal of Kinsmen - serving the community's greatest need.

The POW City Kinsmen are pleased to announce that we have adopted 4 families this year, each of which is a single parent family with at least 7 children in the family. We are being generously supported in our efforts by Zellers and Superstore. Our club passed a motion to spend $3000 in support of our Adopt a Family efforts this year. Our club is active in our role as adopters, taking the time to arrange to get as far with our funds as possible, wrapping the presents and delivering the items to the families who we are helping.
